- Safety margins
- Hazard Perception
- Vehicle Handling
- Motorway Driving
- Rules of the road
- Road and Traffic signs
- Documents
- Accidents
Candidates must score a minimum of 43 out of 50 to pass this part of
the exam and you are allocated 57 minutes in order to complete the test.
Full instructions are given on how to operate the computer on entry and
you do not need a knowedge of computers in order to sit this exam.
At the end of this section candidates can review their answers before
moving on to the hazard perception test. You can take an optional 3
minute break if you wish to do so.
Hazard Perception Test
The hazard perception test is also computer based but again you
do not need a knowledge of computers in order to sit this exam. Candidates
are shown 14 video clips which feature common everyday road scenes. Within
these clips you are asked to identify 15 developing hazards,
meaning one of the clips contains two areas to be identified. Each hazard
has a maximum score of 5 points; answers are recorded by clicking on the
mouse button. Candidates must score 44 out of 75 in order to pass
this part of the test. You are not permitted to review your responses

Intensive Course
Intensive courses are aimed at people who need to get through
their practical test in a relatively short period of time. The intensive
course, however is not necessarily suitable for all people as you will
be asked to understand and use a great deal of information over a short
period of time, so before booking a course you should consider the
following information.
At present the average pass rate for someone taking their practical driving
test is approximatey 42%. This figure drops significantly to 35% for people
who have taken an intensive course.
Practical driving tests are usually taken within a short period of time
after completing your intensive course. The DSA require a minimum of three
working days notice for cancellations of test. The disadvantage of
an intensive driving course is that once the course is started you may
forfeit the right to cancel your test without losing the test fee.
It is your instructors responsibility to ensure the safety of other road
users to the best of their ability. For this reason, if they perceive
you to be a danger in the car they reserve the right to withdraw cars
for test without notice.
If, after taking this information into consideration, you still wish to
proceed with the intensive driving course then a list of available packages
and costs can be found in our lesson prices section. Assessment
lessons are available for those who are unsure about how many hours they
think they will need.
